Frequently Asked Questions About Reiki
Below are some of the most common questions I hear from clients seeking energy healing. Whether you're new to Reiki healing, exploring alternative healing services, or looking for support with stress relief, you're in the right place.
Reiki is a gentle, energy-based practice that supports balance, relaxation, and healing. It works by channeling universal life force energy to help clear energetic blockages and promote the body’s natural ability to heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It involves light touch or hands held just above the body to encourage relaxation and support the body’s own healing processes.
Reiki promotes deep relaxation, which can help reduce stress, improve sleep, and support emotional balance. It gently supports nervous system regulation, helping you shift out of fight-or-flight mode and into a state of rest. Many people report feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected to themselves after a session. Over time, Reiki can also support the body’s natural healing processes and bring a greater sense of clarity and alignment.
Your session begins with time to settle in, share any updates or questions you may have, and set your intentions for the experience. You’ll be invited to lie fully clothed on a massage table while you relax. I’ll gently place my hands just above or lightly on your body, moving through specific areas to support the flow of energy. Optional elements like sound, aromatherapy, or crystals can be incorporated into the session to deepen your relaxation and enhance your experience. We’ll close with grounding, reflection, and time to share any intuitive insights that come through.
For in-person sessions:
I recommend wearing soft, comfortable clothing. You’ll remain fully clothed during the session, lying on a heated massage table with a blanket if you’d like.
It’s best to avoid heavy meals at least one hour before your session so your body can relax fully.
Arrive with an open mind! You don’t need to “do” anything during your session - just be open and let yourself receive.
For virtual sessions:
I recommend wearing soft, comfortable clothing.
Find a quiet, cozy space where you can fully relax without interruptions.
Be prepared to choose a seated or lying-down position - whatever feels more comfortable.
Feel free to use a blanket, eye pillow, or light a candle - anything that may help you relax and settle in.
Everyone experiences Reiki a little differently. Most describe it as deeply calming and peaceful. You may feel a gentle warmth, tingling, waves of energy, or a light pressure in different areas of your body. Some people experience a meditative state or even fall asleep during their session. Others feel emotions come to the surface and then release, which can bring emotional relief and clarity.
Some clients notice sensations related to chakra balancing, or feel energy shifting in specific parts of their body. Whether your experience is physical, emotional, or simply a sense of stillness, Reiki goes where it is needed in that moment.
No. Reiki is not connected to any specific religion. It’s a gentle energy practice that works with your body’s natural ability to relax and heal. Anyone from any background and any belief system can participate in and benefit from receiving Reiki.
You can receive Reiki as often as you feel called to. Many people find that a monthly session helps them maintain balance and well-being. If you’re moving through a more intense physical, emotional, or spiritual season, you may choose to come more frequently to support deeper healing and alignment.
Clients seeking emotional energy release, support with stress and anxiety relief, or long-term mind-body healing often benefit from regular sessions over time.
